Supper Time

Revelation 19:9
"Then he said to me, "Write: 'Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!'" And he said to me, "These are the true sayings of God."

Supper when I was a young girl growing up was what we call dinner today. I can hear those words calling me as strong as they were when my mother said them. They did not want me out after dark so she would go to the back porch and call, “Joan, come home, time for supper.” Supper time at our house did not always consist of a big meal. Dad and mom both worked so we had whatever they put together when they got home after working long hour days. The local Dairy Queen a block away prepared a lot of meals for us. Or, Lindy’s grocery store which was also very close to our home. Needless to say, I was coming home to something to eat anyway.

Mealtime was fun, all four of us had our seat at the table and that is pretty much where we sat every time we had a meal. We rarely took our meals into the living room to watch TV. The one thing my dad did not like was for my brother and me to giggle and act silly during supper. He was brought up that meal time was a time to be quiet and eat. Yet, there were times Larry and I would look at each other and start laughing. Probably because we knew we where not suppose to.

Now that I am grown, I have come to realize how much fun my life really was back then. I was blessed to have a mom and a dad. There were four of us, dad, mom myself and my brother Larry, who was five years younger than me.

One day we are going to be called home by Father God, He will call His children and it will be a great homecoming indeed. It want be a left over meal or something from the local market. This will be the finest tastiest meal we have ever eaten. Yet, the most thrilling of all is that Father God will be sitting at the table with us.

This delightful meal being prepared will surpass any feast we could ever imagine, and the invitations have already been sent! Only those who have received the Holy Spirit will be allowed to attend this banquet. He has asked you for your hand and all have received their invitation. The prerequisite for this supper is to know and love Jesus Christ. The Bible says, "excuses are not acceptable" (Luke 14:16-24; Matthew 22:1-14; Matthew 25:1-13).

In the Old and New Testament there are over 2400 prophecies of Christ's coming. Christ has certainly given out enough invitations to let His devoted followers know that He has planned a huge banquet just for them. I cannot wait, I do believe it will be any day now!

The invitation of the gospel is being proclaimed throughout the world. Yet, scripture tells us, "for many are invited, but few will come." "But small is the gate and narrow is the road that leads to life, and only a few find it" (Matthew 7:14).

Please do not miss the call when He says your names. My word for you today is to make sure you are ready for the coming of the Lord. We must accept responsibility for our lives because Jesus is coming back, and ultimately we will answer to Him! Please, do not miss out on the greatest event in your life!
